The Basics
Energy Psychology holds that our thoughts are constantly creating patterns of electrical energy that cause the release of neurotransmitters, hormones, and other chemicals in the body that we feel as emotions. When there is a disruption in the body's electrical flow, such as when we experience the fight, flight, or freeze responses, we feel it physically. If the disruption continues, it can lead to emotional distress and eventually physical problems. When the disruption is removed, the distress stops.

Treatment methods vary in Energy Psychology, but primarily you are taught pressure points that you can use with a practitioner or on your own to work through your emotional disturbances.

There are several forms of Energy Psychology.  The most well-known is the Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT developed by Gary Craig.  And there are many sources of information on these techniques on the Internet including the ones listed on the left column of this page.

Below is a video of an interview on "Larry King Live" of Dr. George Pratt, one of Energy Psychology's best know advocates and practitioners.  In the interview, Dr. Pratt describes how the method works.

What Is Energy Psychology?
Energy Psycoholgy is a relatively new (in the West) approach to providing relief for a variety of emotional problems including phobias, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, anger, physical pain, and addictions. In Energy Psychology, energy is believed to flow along lines or meridians which are connected to organs of the body and related to emotional states. The Energy Therapy techniques have roots in ancient Chinese medicine and in the modern science of Applied Kinesiology.
My Experience with Energy Psychology
I was first trained in Thought Field Therapy which was the first of the energy therapies.  During my training, I totally lost a fear of heights which I had experienced in childhood as far back as I can remember.  That has never returned.

Folloing that experience, I took every training in energy therapies that I could find.  I have been using it on myself and on many clients with great success.  At the present time I am a Diplomate with ACEP, the Association for Energy Psychology and and EFT Certified Trainer for AAMET, the Association for the advancement of Energy Therapies.

I love working with these methods and have combined different methods into a treatment of my own which incorporates my knowledge of the brain, cognitive behavioral therapy and energy psychologies.  My website for the process is www.CYM-Info.com.  There I describe the process and give you tools to work with this method on your own.  This, of course, should be done with caution and if you are in therapy, consult your therapist before processing.
